Archos 70 Internet Tablet 250GB ...

Finally got my Archos 70 Internet Tablet 250GB, after waiting for 71 days! Well worth the wait. I'm enjoying my Archos 70 everyday. Listened to the first 40 chapters of Psalms this morning. Trying out the new Dolphin HD browser. I still like the stock Dolphin browser. Finally got Zeam and TagHome. I like the stock Launcher better. I'll keep Zeam and TagHome just to play around with for awhile ....

Have over 600 apps downloaded so far. Checking out a few each day. Downloading files for an offline dictionary. Have several good Bible apps. Lots of audio and video music files. Using PowerAmp mostly for the music.

Coming up soon: More details on this awesome little tablet .....

  1. Looks like you're having fun going App Crazy. :D I remember when I first got my iPod Touch I loaded with tons of apps most of which I never used. I've widdled it down to about 80 apps currently. You know how many I use regularly? 10 tops. By far my most used app is Spite and Malice (Skip-Bo) it's a favorite time waster of mine.

I really want an Android device just to play with. Since I already have the iTouch, I cannot rationalize buying an Android media player. When it's time for me to get a tablet I'll definetly be going Android though. Did you see you price of iPads? Apple must smoke some good stuff out there in Cali. lol.

  2. I could buy two nice Androids for the price of one iPad! My Archos 70 IT 250GB will do much more than the iPad. One Android app I've been using quite a bit is Tunein. I get good quality Internet radio for free! I'm still learning to use the updated Dolphin Browser HD.

I think I'll probably end with around 20-30 apps that I will use at least once a week. I like to read a lot, and have some good reading material that will keep me busy for awhile. I'm still searching for free books and articles to read ...

I'm also using Color Note for sticky notes on the desktop. Use Calendar to keep track of appointments. Still checking out many radio apps. Will probably keep NPR and UK Radio(LITE), in addition to Tunein. Might keep Slacker too ...

Have several dictionaries and encyclopedias, Yellowbook, OfficeSuite, Nook, and several PDF readers, Apps Organizer, AppBrain, Smart Shortcuts, Market.

I have 106 games! Still have around 500 apps that I need to check out. Will take me several months to go through each app. I'm putting my favorite apps into various folders I've created on the desktop.

  3. I'm with you 100% on the price deal. Apple's stuff is all mongo expensive. Even their computers, you can buy a comparable PC for 2/3rds the price. I do like my Mac Mini but I bought it used and subverted some of the so called Apple Tax.

I'm really not into spending big money on portable things that can be easily misplaced or broken. The only except is my iPod which rarely gets taken out of the house and when it does it gets babied. LOL

Of all the apps I have on my iPod the 5 most used ones are Safari (browser), AccuWeather, Spite and Malice, and New York Times, and CNN. I do have to say Apple's browser is just awesome on the iPod. :)

  4. My oldest son was just showing me Safari on his iPhone. I really do like Apple products, especially my MacPro! My first Mac was an SE (not the SE/30) SuperDrive, which I bought in 1989. I got my first experience with a Mac Plus in early 1989, and I almost bought one. At the time the Mac Plus was going for $900, which was very expensive for such a limited computer at that time! I finally got my Compact Macs all cleaned up and in order. I'll be spending some time getting them all running this year. I think most of them still work ... Will have to start a separate blog on my Compact Macs ...

  5. I have several weather apps. I think AccuWeather is one of them. While riding the last bus (three busses each way) there was a kid, around 13, who thought my Archos 70 was an iPad. I told him my Archos is way better than an iPad!
